Will the parish host more of these forums in the future?
There was a desire to continue to hold these forums once a year.
What is the Christ the King School K. Wulf Tuition Assistance?
It is used for distribution towards tuition assistance or music enhancement of students at Christ the King School.
Can it be used at the St. Joseph Academy?
The finance council was not able to provide a definitive answer to this question, as they are in the process of determining the direction of all the purpose-restricted funds.
Why was the Wulf account placed with the Foundation?
At the time the money was donated, not during Fr. Rutten’s tenure as Pastor, it was placed in the Catholic Community Foundation for Eastern South Dakota. Currently, the Finance Council and Fr. Rutten are looking at alternative locations that also align with Church Teaching and are not used for immoral investments to move the funds.
How is the Pastorate expenses percentage determined?
Percentages are based on households and parish census data. Christ the King’s current Pastorate expense percentage is 32% based on 726 families.
What did the staff budget look like before Set Ablaze, and why does it look different now?
The Staff budget was $350,000 before Set Ablaze, compared to the current $398,000. We desire that our staff be paid justly, and that has been corrected.

Are there projects that we would like to do as a parish that we are unable to do because of funds?
Yes, we want to assess the lighting and sound throughout the building (church and Community Center) to improve the overall experience for our parish.
What is Christ the King Parish required to contribute to the building of St. John Paul II?
The parish of Christ the King is not required to contribute financially.
Based on all of the numbers presented tonight, it seems that parish family numbers are down. Is that true?
Yes, the number of parish families has gone down over the past few years.
What are the next steps for the school building?
The decision on the property is a parish decision, not the school system. A parishioner committee will be put together over the coming months to help begin the process of what is next for the building.
Does Christ the King employ a janitor?
Christ the King, and the Pastorate, does maintain a facilities team.
